Women's Self-Defence Course Launching March 2026

Shockwave Jujitsu are pleased to announce a new Women's Self-Defence course taking place at the Murrayside Community Centre, starting 1st March 2026 and running for 6 weeks.

Funding from Active Suffolk

This course has been made possible through funding from Active Suffolk, allowing us to pilot an expanded programme focused on confidence, personal safety, and practical self-defence skills for women (14+).

What You'll Learn

The sessions are designed for complete beginners and do not require prior fitness or martial arts experience. Training focuses on:

  • Recognising unsafe situations early
  • Managing stress
  • Setting boundaries
  • Using your voice assertively
  • Learning simple, practical ways to create space and escape if needed

The emphasis is on awareness and decision-making, rather than strength or aggression.

Fully Funded Places Available

Thanks to the funding, a limited number of fully funded (£0) places are available. The course will be delivered in a supportive, non-judgemental environment and aims to help women feel more confident and capable in everyday situations.

Charitable Element

As part of the pilot, the course also includes a small charitable element. Donations linked to participant feedback will be made to a local women's support charity, helping ensure the programme contributes positively beyond the training space.

How to Book

Places are limited, and advance booking is required.
